Don't want to pay too much more than £300 and would prefer a brand.

Anybody got a recoommmendatio/deal?

Thanks

A freezer alone is fine, it's a fridge-freezer that needs twin thermostat - especially in this weather! Basically if you only have 1 thermostat, and it's in the fridge, then once the ambient temperature drop below say 4 degrees, the thermostat will switch off and so the freezer will warm up, defrosting everything in the freezer.

OP, if your garage is big enough you could always buy a seperate fridge and freezer.
