So, Game do three grades for items. The PS4 Slim 500Gb currently has a value of £150 on the trade app for a 'C' standard (i.e. works but can be scuffed to bits).

Their website says, 'a Grade A Console is in 'as new' condition & needs to be:

Fully functional
New/Mint condition
No marks or scratches anywhere on the device
Original box and accessories must be included'

They've told me in the shop they would 'literally have to break the seal for it to be A Grade'. Mine is flawless and boxed, so I see no reason for it to be a 'B grade'.

That doesn't tie up for me. Anybody any experience?

Thanks!

take it to a shop and get them to assess it

I know it's not for the same item, but I had the same conversation with a staff member in store with a phone. Not a scratch or mark on it so I assumed it would be Grade A; apparently not. It's either to be brand new literally bought a couple of mins beforehand so it hasn't been removed from the box or handled or the other being completely sealed like you said. Ended up with the phone being Grade B.

As above though, their own policy:

I think the staff are likely encouraged to push you down. I'll ring Head Office before popping round! The staff were singularly unhelpful and contradicted their own info.

why don't you just sell it on here?

I got grade a on my xbox one a little while back. As long as its packed up in the box as new and doesn't have surface scratches etc its good for an a.

Game wont even take a console with a seal unbroken. Its not legal for them to take that as it could be stolen from another retailer. Game have flat out refused to take a game off me before as i didn't open it.

Including postage, I'd likely get less than £150. I'd certainly not pay more, so might as well get as much out of Game while it's a decent price! :)

CEX are the same. I'll just have to push. It doesn't have a mark on it and is fully boxed (although a Lego Star Wars PS4 box but that shouldn't count).

utter rubbish, its not illegal for them to take in a sealed game, they can take anything as long as you have the correct ID.

they just unseal a sealed item you bring in.

CEX have always made me unseal it and said they can't buy brand new.

well there's usually a very easy solution if they say it maybe stolen for a sealed item u show them proof of purchase so that laws gone down the drain and as if they care they always buy stuff off the chavs the stolen goods they know it and don't care they just pay them peanuts it's stupid they should have a rule they don't buy loads of stuff from the same person without proof where he's getting it from or he is a business registered and paying his taxes.
