I have tried searching the forums but found nothing recent or relevant.

I was looking at the joy pads here

http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=PCSH&searchstring=gamepad&page=search&pa=search

which one is recommeded?

i'm just looking for a cheap fix to play some retro games etc, nothing too serious so £15 and below is my budget really.

Cheers for any help!

why not get a usb convetor from play (£6.99) and use a ps2 pad which in my opinion is the best pad available!

that's a really good idea actually! thanks for that.

i've looked in play, amazon, ebuyer, game.co.uk, hmv, even tesco (!) and they don't seem to have any in stock unless it's private sellers and tbh i'm not really comfortable with them.

do they sell in these in any highstreet stores or any other trustworthy websites worth looking at? thanks.

cheers for the other suggestion satchef1.

I bought one ages ago (not the Joytech one), one that worked with the old Nintendo 64 (well it was new back then), anyway it never worked, it was a dual connection that was supposed to let two players play together on a PC.

The thing never even recognised one joypad never mind 2!!! (it was bought off eBay!!!)

BUT....

The Joytech device has had very good reviews, the one that Play sold, but as you can now see they are out of stock and have been for a long long long time, do not hold out for one, you will probably NEVER see one in stock again,.

Just get an Xbox 360 pad, the one iwth the wire will do you fine. It is a nice comfy pad from what I can gather works ok on the PC. (Only ever used it on a 360 myself but plenty of good reports from PC users so go for it).

paceCETTA, thanks but that's from a private seller, personally i'm not too keen on them.

beerman1 i have just brought a single usb converter for ps2 controller from game instore, as far as i'm aware they do not have it on their website.

i've yet to get it working..because i can't install the cd! it's a mini cd 10cms in width but because my laptop has a slot-slid-in cd drive, i don't think it can read it! will update on further actions..

I'm using an Official wireless 360 pad on the PC, but if drivers for the wired one are anything like it then be afraid. I spent the best part of an hour and a half getting it to work with San Andreas and had to use endless third party key mappers - It's glorious now of course.

I reckon it has around 50% compatibility at the moment but it's definitely not plug and play.

Agreed. I got mine from ebuyer about a year ago (before the 360 was released) and it's brilliant. I don't like playing NFS on my Xbox now I have the 360 controller for my PC. :D

yeah a wired 360 pad would be the best option prob.

@fama, that Venom PS2 adaptor isnt sold by a marketplace seller. It says and i quote ''Availability: In stock. Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk.''
