Hello

My son is looking to buy a gaming keyboard up to a value of £50. I know this seems cheap for one of these but i think it is a lot for a keyboard. Any ideas of where we can find a decent one for this amount? Thanks

Probably not a decent new one. You can find most mechanical keywords for £70 upwards.

If you are looking for a standard membrane gaming keyboard, the Corsair k30 is a good start.

be very careful not to buy a cheap Chinese brand, wireless or a usa layout. if he can wait I would wait for black friday and get a razer blackwidow from amazon they drop to around £50 for the one without the number pad

Gaming isn't very demanding on keyboards so while there are a couple of features that make a very minor improvement it's largely a matter of fashion and personal preference.

So it's more a question of whether he wants to keep up with the Joneses and get something popular or whether he wants something in a specific or matching visual style.

Hi. I purchased this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00J2U3D7G/ref=twister_B00UNK85B8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 for my 14 year old son last September 2015. They are fantastic. He absolutely love it

When my lad first got into pc gaming a few years back he started off with the mad catz v5 keyboard. It wasnt what he really wanted but he was still at school and had been saving all his money to get up and running, so he was happy with it to start him off. The keyboard he has now cost him well over £150 and although with a budget of £50 you will be hard pressed to find a mechanical one im guessing your son wants one that looks the part with all the flashing lights :) i would go for the corsair k40, its a popular brand with gamers and although this is one of their low end models it will do the job (without the annoying clicking sound of the mechanical keys) lol. Currys have it for £55

Although a lot of gaming keyboards are obsessed with fashion as you say and all these flashing lights, the true benefit of a gaming keyboard are its anti ghosting capabilities.

These can be invaluable in most of today's games requiring multiple different key presses, notably most fps games.

Please ignore all of the statements claiming you can't find decent mechanical keyboards for £50 there are a number of brands which tend to quality control and rebrand Chinese products. Yes they won't be as feature rich as the top end corsair, logitech etc keyboards but they are good.

Asus Echelon Mechanical Gaming Keyboard https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00I9856PO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ODZ9xb234T6FH £9 more but branded by a good company

Has your son got his keyboard yet, if not there is a fantastic offer in game. Its £60 so more than you wanted to spend but it is well worth spending the extra £10. Its the corsair strafe mechanical keyboard, online its showing as £160 but its deffo £60 in store. You can check stock in your local stores but i wouldnt hang around because at this price they will soon be gone ☺
