whats the best laptop gaming wise for about £400, for my son.

He is is only 9 but loves command and conquer, stronghold etc

I want the best laptop that can play these caliber of games and be half decent as well at other things.

Appreciate your advise

Thanks

why does it have to be a laptop? they really aren't good for gaming, and the ones that are good tend t obe very expensive. they become quickly outdated and are usually almost impossible to upgrade. for £400 you might find a laptop that can manage C&C3 at an ok frame rate, but probably won't cope well at all with RA3.

if it really hase to be a laptop then maybe look for a second hand dell XPS or maybe an aleinware something like that, try and get a laptop with dedicated graphics from the previous generation. maybe something with a go7400.

but if you can tell us why you were wanting a laptop, we might be able to suggesting something suitable, like smaller desktops, ones that are more mobile etc.

A portable xbox 360 is the way forward....

Some people have too much time on there hands....

Don't forgret you will need a mains generator for this to be truly portable.

TRy the Dell Outlet store. You will need to get a Core 2 Duo processor and a dedicated graphics card of at least 256MB. It may not be able to play the latest and greatest games but for your price range its the best you will be able to get.

The two games listed are both RTS games, so while Benheck's projects are always cool it wouldn't really be useful here even if it could be bought for £400.

I'd echo everyone else, for gaming like C&C a laptop is the worst choice as it'll only have half the performance, or even less, than a similarly priced desktop. If a laptop is essential then at that price I'd just try and get the fastest graphics card I could and forget about the rest, notebook check has a laptop graphics card ranking: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Comparison-of-Graphic-Cards.130.0.html
