I am looking at maybe getting new pc one for gaming or will do the same job.

I would want to play games like Sims 2 and expansions, Fifa 08, RT3, etc etc, but i dont know where the best place would be to get one, the amount they cost so they will run smoothly without any holdups whilst playing games etc etc.

Any suggestions would be welcomed then i can see the price im looking at to get one.

Not sure if a good pc or a xbox 360 yet!

My suggestion would be not to bother, buy a PS3 or Xbox 360. These are designed to do the job of gaming specifically. You will be constantly upgrading a pc to keep up with the technology to run the new games that come out. If you are a serious gamer then this is an option, but I get the drift from your post that you are a beginner, and on this basis a console is a far cheaper option to do what you want to do.

P.S. what you would pay for a semi-decent gaming PC you could buy a PS3 and X-box 360 and still have change left for a Wii

I have a wii currently im wanting to think about a xbox 360 but whats putting me off is im not into Halo and the likes but thats all i seem to see apart from a few games, maybe its me being a woman not looking properly lol

PS3 im tempted but not really looked into it as such yet, im really swaying for a Xbox 360 though.

I like racing, sports, some platform games and i would be tempted maybe by something like halo just to see what its like but im not good on those sort of games and get killed within 30 secs of loading it lol

A price i reakon around £600 ish minus a monitor as i have one but could prob go to £700 ish.

For a PC to do the same as PS3 or X-box 360 you'll be looking at at least the£1000 mark, and add to that that in 6 months you'll spend another £200 upgrading. The best advice I can give is leave the PC to do PC stuff like internet, email, office programs etc, and buy the tool that is designed to do gaming instead, i.e. PS3 or x-box 360.

p.s. Keep in mind for £700 you could get a PS3 with 2 games to get you started and still have £350 for a semi decent laptop. Then if your PC crashes you can still play games.

Do you have a PC at the moment.
Those games arent really demanding at all, so i'd suggest an upgrade if possible.
And just buy a console.

Btw there is a Sims game coming out/is out for the Wii.

FIFA 08 plays better on a console.
I prefer the Pro Evo series, and sport games are better on the console.

PC is best at strategy and first person shooters.
I hate Halo (though not played the new one yet) as i simply hate FPS's on consoles. Can play Halo PC far better than Halo Xbox.

Hey!

Seriously, if you buy a 360, you DON'T have to get Halo 3! It has absolutely loads of titles available, plus, you don't need to buy any games to start with. It sounds strange, but you don't. Simply hook it up to an internet connection and go online with it, there are hundreds of demos available and more put up every week, as well as Live Arcade games (basically, smaller downloadable games and they give you a free demo of every single one).

FIFA is available on 360, although it doesn't have the Sims.

Basically, if you want a cheap system which'll plug into your current television screen for couch-gaming, get a 360. £250 or so with about three games (new ones at that).

But, you can get a Dell system for around £250 - £300 which'll play those games, add on about £150 for a decent monitor and you're at £400, not a bad price at all really. Plus it does more than just games..

The Xbox 360 is more of a FPS console, The WII, PC and PS3 are more the balanced "gaming consoles" And also with The PS3 you can install Yellow Dog Linux and use it as a PC and console

Get a PS3.

It has the best lineup of games for 2007 and 2008, and also with the recent price drop it's now an even better deal.

Much better than a gaming PC, which are just much too expensive.

I am completely swaying for the PS3 because all the extras i would need for the xbox 360 would come up more than the PS3
