I've just built this. I'd recommend taking a look at reddit.com/r/buildapc.

Not really, AMD are the poor mans choice, they just throw more cores at a crappy processor. A Quadcore Intel will beat it and is what most people use for gaming. 8GB ram is about £30.

That looks good but I didn't realise the new k series cost so much? They used to be £150-200 for the I5 K's.

That included my motherboard and a stock cooler as I'm not overclocking yet.

I think it's because it's a US build, so PCPartPicker's retailer selection for it, and for the other parts, has skewed prices somewhat. The 6600K correctly starts at £210 now, which is still somewhat more than it was before, thanks to the weakened pound caused by the referendum.

While it's even now a good choice for some workloads (it's three years old), it was always a poor choice for gaming as that's where it's design is weakest.

That yoyotech system is also missing several parts like OS and wi-fi card so it's more like a £700-750 system than a £600.

At £600 all in (excluding monitor and other peripherals) you're looking at a machine with an i3-6100, RX 480, 2x4GB RAM, Windows 10 and 240GB+ SSD.

there was a great one posted on hukd a week or 2 ago. search awd and it should come up. I think it was £599 and now up at £629 but still a lot of gaming pc with a new nvidia 1060 graphics card which is what made it such a good deal.

Nope, UK build, got a bundle from palicomp.com.

If you're looking for a decent PC most will recommend you build it yourself. Personally I'd have a look on eBuyer, try to get something with an RX480/470 and an i5 gpu. If you want a small form factor then have a look into the Alienware Alpha R2, comes with a GTX 960 not the most futureproof (probably last a couple years) card but it allows for any graphics card to be connected with the Graphics Amplifier. I've got one and while it's not a powerhouse it runs Overwatch at Epic on 60 and most games run at high/ultra at/near 60. Plus if you talk to the support guys they'll get you a discount, I got mine for £550.

thanks all...its for a friend who needs to buy built rather than build.

I'd highly recommend building. It's cheaper, relatively easy, fun and when you come to upgrading you have more of an idea what you're doing.
