Moving away from Sky, and looking at roughly the following set up. What would you improve or change as I am looking to be frugal but with an ok choice for viewing.

Keep the sky dish and connect a free sat box. One off cost £50 which will give various freeview channels etc (in an area where a TV areal still does not give a freeview signal).

Buy two Nowtv boxes with Now tv entertainment passes (5 months) and 1 month free trial. Cost around (2x£25) £50 for the year.

Prime TV, signed up on student so 6 months free and £39 for the year after etc. So £20 for the first 12 months. This is also shared between two properties.

Netflix, again shared between two properties £96 a year I think (or possibly £84).

Catchup TV for all terrestrial channels, included in freesat box and / or firestick.

Firestick with kodi addons installed. Already owned so zero cost. Not interested in an android box for kodo purposes, I have two sticks and they work great.

So all in £216 in the first year and £186 each year after that. Anything else you would get service wise, or to improve the prices?

(forgive my bad spelling / typos)

Get a subscription IPTV service. The standard Kodi addons or builds are crap in comparison ;)

Your forgetting your TV licence.
The top tier on Netflix can be split 4 ways and it's only £1.50 over then mid tier so worth doing if you were planning on splitting anyway.
Nowtv is pretty meh personally, I'd try Amazon and Netflix first and see how you go.
You can always get a month pass when any seasons start back up.

Yeah tv licence I take as a give, a sort of enforced payment,. Now tv just seems pretty Cheap, got the 3 months movies for example in yesterdays deal for a pound a month and the entertainment package comes in usually cheaper than a fiver a month. I think with now tv I will drop in and out when good deals appear on here or when there is something i really want to watch.

It's a good plan splitting netflix further, I will have a little look at that as I know someone else who might want it.

are you really going to watch netflx, nowtv and prime all at once, why not just split the ones you want over a period of time. or have you considered the sly cancelation trick, that will get you 60% off and account credit.

yeah have cancelled and been offered 60% off but still not biting.

As there are more than one household using the Netflix/prime and nowtv I want them all running for the full year, but with agreement might drop out of the services if there is nothing to watch.

Thanks for the discussion. Unfortunately after being told otherwise by suppliers, fibre broadband is not available so took sky again in the end. Got free broadband and 60% off tv for a 12m contract.

Cheers everyone.
