GHD Hair Straightners

Hi,
I am looking to buy a pair of original GHD hair straightners for my girlfriend. I saw the BBC watch dog programme which highlighted the problems with them however I've heard that the latest versions of the original model (if that makes sense  ) are ok. Can anyone recommend where I can buy a pair of genuine ones at the lowest price?

Thanks very much :)

Best place has been HQHair and their service is recommended. Buy through QuidCo to earn 7% in cashback too...

Here's the link, but use your own through QuidCo if you want the cashback option: http://www.hqhair.com/code/search_listing.asp?excludeSearch=746&SearchTerm=ghd&FirstPost=True

Cheers Rayman, I'll give that a try. Thanks for yor help.

Does anyone know if the version of GHD original straightners sold by HQHair are 3.1b? apperently these are the ones that DON'T blow up and it doesn't say on the website.

Hi,
I've checked the packaging on mine and you do get a 1 year guarantee with these straightners. They are excellent, but don't know about the 'blowing up' factor!! I bought mine through hqhair and they arrived within 2 days. Super-fast delivery!

Remember to go through quidco too !!

Thanks Karenmhatch. It's appreciated.

There are 3 different sizes, i use the medium size ones they are far better to use. The mini ones (the cheapest) are only good for short hair styles. My sister had the big ones and i hated to use them. they were too heavy and i couldnt get close to my roots with them. Ive had my GHD's for 4 years now- i love them.

Hi, I have checked my actual straightners and it has printed on them;
Model No. ghd 3.1 B

So these seem to be the 'safest'!! I bought mine a couple of months ago and i've had no problems at all. They do seem to be the best ones out there. I've bought others but they've turned out to be rubbish really. The article from watchdog mentions them being left plugged in and smoke in the persons house in the morning.. thats just madness. Common sense needed here, unplug them every time!!

Hope I have helped you make your decision as to whether to buy them or not. (bet theres loads of xmas lists with ghd's on them!!)

Cheers Becky - I'll get the "original" one's then :)

Is the site mentioned above the best place to get em from?
#14
I do beleive so chrisuk, i bought mine from a hair salon but they do seem to be cheaper on line.

Just to let you know also the Uk supplyer (Jamella)of GHD's is very good for repairing them i had mine returned in 2 days and the repair was FOC even though mine were at least 2 years old at the time.

I dont think you can go far wrong with a pair of these.

Yes, get them from hqhair and dont forget to go through quidco for your discount. Get the original ones, I agree that by far these ones are the best size. As I mentioned earlier their delivery is fantastic.. so quick.:)

if she has really long hair or very thick/textured hair then the best ones to get are the Wide Plated ones (the ghd salon styler). The mini styler is for people with very short hair.. and the normal ghd is just for everyday styling use.
I've got the salon styler because i have quite thick hair, it works wonders :) i love them.

I e0-mailed HQHair twice just to ask if the ones that they sold were the 3.1b version (i.e. the GHD's that passed the safety test). That was over a week ago and they didn't even reply to either e-mail. I don't want to buy from them now. I was thinking of buying from www.JasonShankley.co.uk
Does anyone have any info on them?

if you are looking for someone reliaable for GHD's i picked up a tesco direct magazine yesterday and tesco are selling the professional size GHD's for £89.99. And there are usually loads of codes on this site for money off or extra club card points. and you know where you are with Tesco!!!!!!

Sorry to bring up this thread again, but my little sis's GHD's wont work at all, and they are only 11 months old.

Anyone know where I can phone/mail to get them repaired (FOC if possible).

Tried searching for Jamella as BeckyBoo stated, but can't find anything ??

Thanks
