What it for video editing, gaming, surfing the web?
If its gaming/ video editing you'll nened to spend at least £700 - 850 (you'll have to build it yourself though, paying for a pre-built one that £800 is a joke and will only last 6 months ir so in the tech world) on a decent quad core high end one that will last 3 years min.
If its just surfing the web go to any high street and ask for a netbook and pay £350 for one.

Here a real suggestion

Quadcore from Dell (no Monitor) Slightly over budget, but dont forget quidco cashback which will help out http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspiron-560?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&~oid=uk~en~20211~inspiron-560_d005624~~

or a dual core with monitor under your budget. http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspiron-570?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&~oid=uk~en~20211~inspiron-570_d005733~~

Hope it helps as its quite dificult to be getting quadcore for the money suggested

Good luck
