Good laptop for under £250

Can anyone find me a good laptop (new) for under £250 on ebay or anywhere else? I don't know much about computers so would appreciate anything anyone can find. I'm specifically looking for something with a good hard drive size, decent graphics and decent processing capabilities.

New laptops at the low end usually cost around £300 (give or take), with perhaps £280 being the lowest I have seen them (apart from refurbs).

You have specified "good hard drive size, decent graphics and decent processing capabilities" but at that price you can not expect top end components.

Requests for laptops is one of the most common requests here on HotUKDeals so suggest you set the topic above to "Computers" then scroll through and find what deals have been listed.

I bought my laptop for under £250, a refurb from pc world. Have a look around the websites on pc world, currys and dixons. For example they have this one http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0277484046.1228326570@@@@&BV_EngineID=cceiadefkmfkjelcflgceggdhhmdgmi.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=653907&category_oid=-28487Just under £250. Don't forget quidco too!

Ideally with vista you should aim to get 2 gig of ram, so if you can stretch to it, get that or just get one like this and upgrade the ram when you can afford it (it really is easier to get one ready fitted though!) As regards good graphics, if you want to play serious games you will have to rethink the budget. No chance under £250. If you just need it for internet and such this will be ideal.

Hope this helps :)

In fact just saw this one, ideal I think. £260 delviered but less quidco you are almost within budget :)

In fact those two Advent computers dont look bad for the money.

Note that Advent are PC Worlds own brand and personally I would not buy one.

But if you only have £250 to spend they seem pretty good.

I am not convinced these refurbs really are refurbs, I think they are just end of life models or old stock they are trying to shift, most of them are probably new.

I agree, Advent are not of the best build quality and are aimed at computing on a low budget.

You're probably right regarding whether they are actually refurbs or just excess end of line stock.

Mine is a "refurb". Advent also. Great machine, parts inside are decent so no worres there. It isn't as hefty as some latops, but I like it for that, also a nice design and layout. I have the 5301 model and have had it for about 4 months or so, well recommended!
