I am looking for a decent mountain bike for under £600. Ideally a full suspension and i am willing to look at last seasons models.

Any Ideas?

Been a few years since i was well into my mountain biking but GT were always the ones to have, until they started fitting RST(i think) suspension instead of rockshox...bad move imo. However i think they are using them again now which is good news. I also always liked Trek bikes, but i think full sus is expensive.

Being honest mate, i think for 600notes your better of with just front sus and make it good, rather than a cheaper full sus thats not up to the job perhaps.

Orange also do some class bikes, but again these are expensive. Most cycle shops will have better bikes than halfords so i dont wanna just say look on halfords webby.

I'de probably stay away from Raleigh or similar makes, they are good at their place in the market, but for off-roading nope sorry no way. had a few including a full sus and it was AWFUL!

GT
Trek
Orange
Carrera

Are defo 4 makes to look for. I reckon you will pick up a decent front sus GT for £600

Actually i said dont look at halfords but they stock some ok bikes...

Is quite a nice bike...depends how big you are though. Never ever buy a bike without trying it for size mate.

Anyway i have waffled on for ages, hope i've helped rather than hindered!

To add to BurningFeetMan's list of decent bike manufacturers:

Specialized
Kona
Cannondale
Scott

I too would go for a decent hardtail rather than an entry level full susser.

Evans Cycles has quite a good selection and they always have quite a few in their sales section.

I'll second the list above, minus Carrera, and the note that a hardtail would be a better bet for the money then a full sussie - unless you buy used.

Also I'd add Focus into the list above, particularly the Focus Raven

Wiggle have a good selection and always sell last years stock.

I've been doing a bit of digging myself and two names that seem to be consistently being recommended on other sites are Marin & Specialized.
