GPS receiver for SatNav

I've just bought the Qtek 9100 PDA/Smartphone for my dad. It has bluetooth so theoretically it should work ok as Sat Nav, right? What kind of GPS receiver do I need to go with it? Any will do? I'm really looking for something cheap.

I guess I'll need to install some software on the phone as well. Is it possible to get it free from somewhere? And does the software usually have a fixed set of maps, or could I get additional maps for it, like Poland for example? If yes, where could I get these maps from?

Will I need anything else?

Sorry for so many questions, but I'm rather new to Sat Nav.

I recently bought BlueNext GPS for a tad less than 40 quid delivered for my MDA Vario. It came with no software, I had to buy (ahem!) it separately.

If you lucky, you can find that your local Staples still selling AA Navigator Bluetooth version for 29.99 including receiver and software.

will these receivers work anywhere in Europe?

These receivers will even work in the US, not just Europe. But you'll need to get map software for that area. Say if you are going to Poland, you need to buy maps for Poland. If you are going to the US then you need to buy maps for the US. It is that simple.
Many packages for Europe comes with something like 'Major Roads' addition. For example, my satnav got 'UK & Ireland and Major European Roads' CD. That mean, I can't navigate by postcode (door-to-door) in Germany but it'll build route from Berlin to Mainz.
