Contact the council they will issue you with one.

I believe you do if it was stolen. When mine disappeared it was assumed that the collection vehicle had swallowed it - it does happen - so it was replaced foc.

I'm our area green bins are replaced for free and you can have several but the grey bins have a £25 charge if it needs replacing. However I'm sure if you phone and explain you might get one free of charge.

Have you checked with your neighbours. Maybe they took it by mistake.

I had my green bin stolen in Peterborough, phoned up the council and they wanted a crime reference number, even though I was willing to pay for a new one!

Was tempted to walk down the street find a bin without a number on it wheel it back home, get the paint out ... job done!

on the day the green bin is due for collection go out and take a look st the other bins , see if yours is out there , if so bring it in as soon as the collection vehicle has emptied it , perhaps as your heavily pregnant your council may treat you as disabled and put you onto a special collection list whereby they come and get your bin for you , empty it then put it back onto your property for you

If a wheelie bin stolen on the same day that you put it out for collection, then most councils should replace for free. (As there would be more than a pretty good chance, that the waste collectors/Bin men/women didn't return it back to your property).

If a wheelie bin goes missing at any other time/day than collection day, you normally will have to pay for a new one.

However, increasing numbers of councils, also provide additional 'recycling bins' for free if you recycle more than a bin full, for each collection. (The alternative is you place the surplus in the general rubbish bin, potentially incurring penalties for not recycling properly and they benefit by reselling your recycling).

I've also heard that most councils replace for over pension age people without charge (if the bins are only out on day of collection)

Depending on your council and which situation matches your own, it could be worth phoning them to ask.

no free bin rang em the man didn't care said it happens but I'll have to pay for it £33 plus vat or I can look around as they take our rubbish on Friday and see if any1 has it so I said I'll wait as I'll only have 2 black bags of rubbish and I said will they take it if you put note for delivery drivers. he said no they don't take rubbish without bin but you can take the rubbish yourself to waste site i was very angry of his rudeness and said what is the point of paying council tax if you don't help us out and I pay mine in full no discount and cut the call

Bins are owned by the council and as such they are the aggrieved if stolen, therefore it is them that should report the crime to the police in order to get a crime reference number. The council should then replace free of charge.

Phone back again it depends on the person you are speaking to, it helps if you are friendly and polite the next person may give you a different answer

Do people really steal wheelie bins? I know ours was taken by the neighbours when the bin men moved them all about. Had just been a bit of a shuffle around. There was an unclaimed one down the road. There no point having a go on the phone though, you're after a friend on the end otherwise you will be out of pocket for sure.
If you do find out who stole it after you've got a replacement, just pierce an expanding foam canister and chuck it in their bin.

No it doesn't. Not possible by design of the lift and the fact that it is manned

You can have ours for free as our council, Warrington BC have started to charge an extra £30 to empty the green bin Which is on top of our council tax which has already gone up for the next year by the governments permitted 5% maximum rise.

And I thought ours was bad charging us £40 for the garden waste bin.£30 for your green bin is just a way to get round increasing your council tax beyond the permitted max. Is that legal? Bet the residents of Warrington aren't happy!
