Someone must know on here... Yes forgotten 4 digit pin code on locked screen...

Watched various YouTube clips of some methods but I get the picture on the phone to connect phone to charger / pc and the web link shows on phone screen rather than the options to wipe phone.

Have downloaded the software from website stated on phone screen at time to recover that way but the software says connect phone and it doesn't connect / recognise phone is connected to PC.

Yes forgotten PIN on screen and have tried many times and each time I get it wrong I have to wait 2 hrs before trying again.

I don't mind if the phone is wiped as there is no data on it. As long as it goes back to the way it was upon arrival from supplier I can start again.

Help!

Have look on miui en forum, locked out of my Redmi 3 last year and although I can't remember how I reset, I did. Think it's via recovery menu but check first.

I'm no expert so if my advice is somewhat wrong sorry... but 2 things need to be done... first download android SDK as far as I'm aware as it will allow computer to recognise phone. and also 2nd boot phone into fastboot mode by pressing down on volume and power button at same time.. from there computer should recognise it if all done.. then go into command prompt and fastboot into phone and use different commands to reset it .. sorry bit vague just at work

So update the MIUI to the new one first? How can that be done from a locked screen?

Turn it off /let battery run down then when off enter recovery as per link, who said update?
You're welcome btw

Absolutley horrendous advice! Letting the battery drain achieves nothing!

What letting it drain achieves is, if you can't switch the phone off because it's locked (I have enabled this to ensure any find my phone app still works) the only way you enter recovery mode would be from powered down state.
Unless want to rip it open and tear the battery out.
When it's powered off, charge it up ,obviously.
Not horrendous really is it?
Feel free to, rather than criticise, offer some advice tho...
Good luck
