No. It's a digital signal - it either works or it doesn't.

Buy one that costs ~£2.

Was looking at this one delivered for £2.99? http://www.ebuyer.com/602639-xenta-flat-2-metre-hdmi-cable-with-blue-braided-cable-hdmi23

" Gold Plated " will not help either, unless the socket on your unit ( TV etc. ) is also gold plated, it will likely be nickel plated.

That should do you just fine - certainly don't spend any more than that.

Depends on cable length. Short runs dont really matter but it gets more expensive as you increase in length due to shielding etc but I'm talking 10m+. The gold plate on the connectors is to prevent it from tarnishing. It will either be nickel or gold, gold just looks better.

gold plated is a myth don't buy into it.

As others have said the ones at 99p/£1 will be just as good.

There are plenty on eBay at 99p with free delivery.

All of the above is correct for short distances, for long distances it pays to get good quality like Monster Cables.

Just to clarify, Gold Plating is there to stop tarnishing/oxidation and not a Myth in that sense BUT it does nothing for the signal, that's where the Advertisers try and twist the facts....

Well they're semi right that if the connector corrodes there could be signal attenuation or even loss. Most people on here are too young to remember taking a fibreglass pencil or nail file to edge connectors to clean them up. Look @ this . It would be damned annoying to clean the tiny little connectors in a hdmi lead.

How do they get away with false advertising for gold connectors.
