Hi All,

I am looking for a GHD straightner as a gift for my wife. Cheapest I could find on the internet is on ghdplaza.com for £63 with 37% off. I could not find any reviews for this website on the internet. Has anybody shopped from this website.I am not sure if they sell the original GHDs or not?

Any other suggestions please, I really know much about these things so any help would be highly appreciated :D

Hi I just found this on yahoo

You could try MSE it has a new shopbot tool it compares comparisons!

At that price I would very much doubt they were genuine.

As far as I know the genuine ones sell for nearer £130

Taken from the GHD official website..

Results: ghdplaza - Warning! unknown retailer website

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your quick response :) There is a thread on MSE going on to find a deal on these straightners. I am just watching that too.

However, any more suggestions are more than welcome :)

just a warning...you dont want to buy GHD's made before 2007(i think)...not sure if the're still for sale but the ones before then didnt have a cut off point for the heat and were well known for overheating and burning out. The ones released early 2007 have a different thing that cuts the power when they get too hot (you leave them to cool down then turn them on again).
I doubt you will be looking at them that old but just a warning :)

I bought GHDs from Amazon Market Place and they turned out to be fakes. Cost me a lot more in the end than the money I saved. Ended up buying direct from GHD.

Hi, well, I ordered GHD straigteners from this company on 27/12/09. I have NOT received them as yet nor have they responded to my 4 emails. Getting worried now. There doesnt seem to be a contact phone number on their web site either. They are based in the UK according to the web site. I paid via Paypal so if I do not here from GHDPlaza within the next few days I will be taking up a dispute with Paypal and try and get my money back. Will let you know what happens. :x

DO NOT BUY FROM THE WEBSITE!!!

before buying GHD's go onto http://www.ghdhair.com/uk/beware-imitations/url-verification/

this is the official GHD website and if u put in the website you are planning on buying the GHD's from they will tell you if it is an offical website!!!

Trust me i've been in the position of buying fake GHD's

if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!!!

RECEIVED TODAY THEY ARE FAKE!! TRIED TO REGISTER THEM ON GHD'S WEB SITE AND NUMBER NOT FOUND WHICH MEANS THEY ARE NOT GENUINE GHD. Very good copy, but shipped from CHINA/BEJING.

DO NOT ORDER FROM ANYWHERE ON THE NET UNLESS THEY ARE REGISTERED WITH GHD TO SELL THE STRAIGHTENERS.

streaky have you contacted the website, what do they have to say?
#14
yep, i got fake ones too off the net, didnt know this until i tried to register them on GHD as they are a very good copy, and good straightners, however after a couple of weeks using them they started to go on and off as i was using them.

Got my money back as i paid through paypal

Read on the net that the fake GHD's work for a couple of weeks then go on fire, or electricute you, so just watch out!!!

Got my real GHD's from the GHD website yesterday and all i can say is for the extra £30 quid you'd pay its well worth getting the real ones!!
