Help Me / Check My Car For Sale Advertisement for Auto Trader Please

Hi .. I'm selling my car and wanted someone to proof read my advert for sale of my car on Auto Trader.

TOYOTA COROLLA 1.4 VVT-i T2 (2002)

Good Condition and Very Economical. Drives beautifully and has done 95,000 and had a recent service (oil change, spark plugs, brake pads, light bulbs etc). Selling as looking for a bigger car due to having kids. This would be great family car or as a first car. Looks really nice with a pearl green colour and alloy wheels. There are some scuff marks here and there, you don't notice them from a far, but they are to be expected from a car of this age. I've taken pictures to show these and hopefully you can see them. Looked after well and cleaned at least one a week both inside and out. Electric windows, CD player, Height adjustable driver's seat, Folding rear seats, Child seat points (Isofix system), Alloy wheels, Power steering, Steering wheel rake adjustment, Central locking, Immobiliser, Driver's airbags, Side airbags, Passenger airbags

Things for you guys to know ... that I have not added
- The car should have central locking but the buttons on the key are broken so it's normal key in the door entry
- Recently had a gear box and Clutch fitted .. no receipt to show this but the car works great (mechanic basically said he would knock £100 off without a VAT receipt so I took it)

Can someone please proof read it and give tips or advice as to if its good. I'm putting it up for £1600 ... reasonable?

Also which option on autotrader should I opt for?

My Cars colour is basically like this expect I have different Alloys

How long is Tax and MOT? How many owners? I would suggest you are more succinct. Remove: "Looks really nice with a pearl green colour and alloy wheels. There are some scuff marks here and there, you don't notice them from a far, but they are to be expected from a car of this age. I've taken pictures to show these and hopefully you can see them. " the photos will illustrate this & you can mention the scuffs when speaking to a potential buyer.

Amended so far to this ....

Selling as looking for a bigger car due to having kids. Tax and Mot October 2014. This would be great family car or as a first car. Looked after well and cleaned at least once a week both inside and out. Electric windows, CD player, Height adjustable driver's seat, Folding rear seats, Child seat points (Isofix system), Alloy wheels, Power steering, Steering wheel rake adjustment, Central locking, Immobiliser, Driver's airbags, Side airbags, Passenger airbags

ALSO - should I do 3, 6, or 8 week advert? I'm not sure how long a car takes to sell nowadays

I would suggest you get a new MOT test done, or guarantee a fresh MOT pass before someone collects as it will give people piece of mind. You can renew the MOT 4 weeks before the old one expires. It will definitely be easier to sell then.

You can renew an MOT at any time, you will get the extra 4 weeks added to the old MOT if you get it renewed within 4 weeks of expiry of the old one.

4 Previous Owners ... Just checked and MOT ended in May!!! OOPS ... what will happen now? I didn't realise it's ended! Going out now to get it done as day off.

I've amended to this

Good Condition and Very Economical. Drives beautifully and has done 95,000 and a recent service (oil change, spark plugs, brake pads, light bulbs etc). Selling as looking for a bigger car due to having kids. 4 Previous owners. Tax October 2014 and Mot May 2015. This would be great family car or as a first car. I recently sold a bike and first had six weeks in autotrader with no luck, it sold on EBay classified in four hours!

I'd go for a 3 week advert. Try not to make the ad too wordy or too long, things such as airbags and central locking are basic and need not be mentioned. Service History should also be mentioned.

Thanks. We've done the servicing of the car ourselves by buying the parts. Didn't keep the receipts. Did one last year and doing one on Sunday.
