I'm looking for a laptop that has a good processor and graphics card.
Preferably and i5 or better with a direct X 11 graphics card specifically.

Don't really need blu-ray, but would be nice.
Would preferably be an full HD screen also.

Have seen the MSI Laptop at Overclockers:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-025-MS
But it's breaking the bank a little.

I've seen a similar spec PC at Mesh but have read that they should be avoided. Saying that I also read that they are basically the newer MSI laptops but Mesh branded.

Anyway, I'd like to use the laptop for some gaming, not top spec, but don't want it to struggle.

I really can't find anything that seems to tick all the boxes for the right price, as I keep finding that I find one but either the processor sucks or the graphics card does.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Please help me!!

I wouldn't be put off by someone slagging a brand off, look at dell for example, rated worst for reliability in a lot of surveys yet still 1000's buy them

Was that before or after the known hardware fault cover ups?

Not much help here but I have the fujitsu amilo (£600), one of the keys broke within 2 weeks and fujitsu helpdesk say it's normal wear an tear, so not very impressed.

Depends on the survey you look at... The 2010 survey I saw by the largest insurance warranty seller in the states put Dell well ahead of Acer, HP, Fujitsu and Lenovo. That just looks at failures resulting in warranty claims and not the support experience though...

How about the Dell Studio XPS 17 - the i5-560 model has a big discount and a 10% discount code brings it to £703.10 delivered? It has 2x500GB HDD 4Gb ram and 1Gb 435m graphics.

"a lot of surveys" = Just the one from a British PC mag polling under a thousand people on fairly vague terms, iirc. Really, what is your beef with Dell? You bring this survey up any time they're mentioned.

Nice, I seem to have missed that.
Thanks.

It's still on offer - here's a link to the XPS 17 page: http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xps-17?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&~ck=mn -

I think the i5-560 with 1TB disk (discounted £224) looks best value.

I used the code 7?K06Z293JF3FL that was posted here to get another 10% off.
That code is valid for any inspiron, studio or XPS with a price (before discounts of £899 or more), so if fancy the £50 cheaper model just add 'extras' (like a backlit keyboard or Blu-ray rom) to take the pre-discount total price over £899...
