Help, my GoPro Hero 3 Silver Edition is froze?

This seems to be a common issue upon reading online however I haven't been able to find a solution which works for me.

The symptoms are that the device instantly freezes when turned on. It freezes on the picture of the video cam and says below what firmware it is on. I cannot get it past this stage, I then need to remove the battery for it to turn off.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.
Hopefully I'll get it sorted. I've had problems with the older GoPro cameras also, I can't believe they haven't fully addressed these issues.

Ive got the same camera, and it did freeze when I first got it... is fine now after a firmware upgrade, and also make sure you are using good quality fast memory cards... also I seem to remember formatting them in camera, not via pc on first use...

Thanks but I cannot get it past the initial screen. Having a memory card in or out doesn't affect this. I also can't update the firmware or do anything as it instantly freezes when it turns on.

Nice, I've actually got a 4 Black Edition on the way. Paid just below £290 from PC World for an 'open box' one. I'm not sure if I'm going to be keeping it but I'll have a play first :)

I got this on my black edition, the batteries are useless. Make sure you have a class10 sd card.

Ah, its on its way still so I haven't had chance to use it yet.
I also use Sony Vegas for editing although I imagine that may struggle a little with 4K.

Ah, I may try another battery. Its completely dead now, it won't turn on and when I plug in the USB cable my computer say it cannot be recognized.

Memory card doesn't make a difference because I haven't even tried recording ect.. I just want it to turn on at the moment X)
