I've narrowed my laptop choices down to 2 and I'm unsure which one would be the sensible choice to go for. Anyone able to offer any feedback or advice?

Personally I'd go for the dell. From personal experience, that AMD CPU is awful. Performs worse than my old dual core pentium 4.
You shouldn't notice the 1Gb less of ram on the dell.
Defo the dell IMO.

dell mate loads better

If that acer laptop breaks in a few months then you have to deal with acer. Not something for the light hearted.

Worse? Guessing you mean slower? Well a mobile processor vs a desk top Pentium D with a 50% higher clock rate is hardly a fair comparison. On that analogy half of Intels range of mobile processors are "awful"!

to the OP out of those I'd go with the Dell.:)

I was referring to the CPU of my previous laptop. Couldn't remember exactly what one it was so I improvised ;)

Anyway, I have that RM-74 CPU in my current Acer Laptop (I know.. shot me). It's appaulingly slow.
