help my back really needs a new double mattress!

Hey guys, I do hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

My mattress has long past it's best... and worst. It's got springs jutting out all over the place killing my back more and more each passing day! Well it's gotten so bad now I wake DURING the night in pain!

Thoguht I'd post a wee post on here as I've no idea about mattresses.... I'd really like a double one that I don't have to turn over... as I only ever bother doing it about once a year!

Also one for bad backs would be a treat as I'm now a orthopaedic theatre nurse which is heavy going and hard on the back too.

Any ideas folks? Surely there must be deals about too this time of year. I can't afford to pay bucket loads of £ since I'm a single mum. But know that a good mattress isn't cheap either ;).

Will rep those good folks out there willing to help another!

thanks you muchly
Louise =)

I had a bad back for years and was told by specialist "learn to live with it", I bought a new mattress - a Sealy and was told by the shop that I would go back and thank them, years, later and 2 sealy mattress later, I still want to thank that man, as soon as I slept on it it was like a miracle I have never had a bad back since and even miss my mattress when I go on holidays, so buy a Sealy and come back and thank me!

Saw these on bid-up.tv this morning just watching for fun. Seems actually a pretty good deal.

hi, I have a back problem too and bought a Kingsdown bed which I would greatly reccommend (no need to turn either) . In my local branch they have a mattress linked to a computer which detects your body pressure points and suggests accordingly the correct type of mattress for you. It is however fairly expensive. For my young ones I bought just a memory foam topper as they are light anyway so dont need much support, but again for those who are on a budget this is a great alternative. When I lay on their beds it feels very comfortable!!:thumbsup:

right now my sore back is due to mainly the bed... but the work is hard in orthopaedics as we gotta limb hold for surgeons etc - whilst bent over the table so not to touch the sterile areas.

Very much against all our moving and handling protocols but we just gotta get on with it.

At recent moving and handling course - my 1st with the NHS when we had to go round saying where we worked... I just got a "oh you poor thing! your poor back!" etc type comments from the trainers...

So want a good mattress to try and help protect my back after the hard days it has!:-D
