HELP - Need cheap hotel in Edinburgh or Glasgow Centre

OK, so here's the problem we have.

My girlfriends brother is getting married in Cyprus in August, typically I have left it to the last minute to get flights, I've bought Manchester to Cyprus for a cheap price but couldn't find a return to Manchester that was affordable...BUT I could find cheap flights to both Edinburgh and Glasgow...So I figured we may as well stay over for a few days as neither me or my girlfriend have ever been to Scotland.

We'll land in Scotland on the 27th August....Can be either Edinburgh or Glasgow, am leaning towards Edinburgh at the mo.

I've been searching for a central hotel or B&B for under £50 a night, including breakfast.

Any ideas anyone? The only offer I can find on HDUK is a best western 2 nights for £109 but it doesn't apply to where I'm going. gutted....

Thanks in advance

Call the holiday inn next to the zoo in Edinburgh. But actually phone the hotel not the reservation line. If they have rooms they will price match the best western rate you have. As they are a couple of miles from the centre so they have to be competitive.

Its a short £2 odd taxi ride to the centre

I have just stayed in the Hilton Grovesnor, very nice, and through laterooms was £59 a night, if thats too much try TravelLodge, Holiday Inn Express, or if your very brave you can find B&Bs for under £30 a night, if you dont find sharing your bed with a few bugs :whistling:

I have a silly idea

First scot rail look to have some of the advance tickets (£50) for the sleeper service down to london on the 27th, which would get you to london first thing in the morning.

You could land at whatever time, poke around edinburgh or glasgow, climb aboard the train (which leaves after 23:00) and then have the next day to poke around the big smoke
