So I bought a Mi5 standard, 3GB+32GB, Running MIUI 8 6.9.29 Beta, Build MXB48T

Everything is working perfect, except no SIM signal

It recognises there is a T-Mobile (EE) SIM inside but no signal

I went to an EE store, they tried a replacement SIM but no luck

I have already factory reset to no avail

Any help would be greatly appreciated, no data or signal outside is just a dealbreaker if this cant be fixed

ps. may be worth noting that on my Mi5 the UK isn't a region option, I picked France and changed manual time

Thanks alot guys in advance,
Alfie

Have you tried going into the setting and forcing it on to 2g, 3g ect rather than leaving to auto find?

Odd?

Just check that the IMEI is in the standard format. On the dialer type *#06# It should show a 17 digit number (Don't post it). But make sure it's not all zero's.

Info here; http://www.imei.info/faq-what-is-IMEI/

No there are 2 IMEI numbers (not zeros) and a MEID number too, again properly numbered

? So the EE store tried a EE sim and that didn't work and your T mobile sim also won't connect?

I guess you've tried both sim slots?

Any chance you have a none EE group sim anywhere or a friend with one? I wondering if EE have it's IMEI code logged wrong?
The format should be AA-BBBBBB-CCCCCC-D where the C's are the model number & make of the phone. The network servers read that to check that it's an allowed phone. If EE have it logged incorrectly then the severs won't allow access.

It's a long shot at best, there have to be others on EE with the same handset (I would have thought?).

You could try calling EE cs, get through to data support and ask them to send an inquiry to Network support and see if they can see why it's not being allowed to connect?

My initial SIM wouldnt work, they gave me a replacement free and said they loaded my contract onto it, that didnt work either

I tried them in both SIM slots, ofc, nothing

the IMEIs both have no partitions such as - ....just a block of numbers

Both are the same except for the last 2 digits which differ
Im gonna go to a local EE omw home from work but I doubt they can do much

It works in my old G3 so has to be phone issue

Sounds like either the phone or a network access issue.

Try checking the data settings and see if they're right and if you can access anything through them.
They're here; https://apn-uk.gishan.net/settings/1354_8_ee_apn_settings_for_xiaomi_mi_5.php

The stores don't have access to any online tools to check anything. Even the guys in CS don't have that many and nothing that I can think of that would help them work out what's going on here. You need either lvl 2 or 3 data support or network support to sort this one out!

Is there any use in trying all the MCC MNC combos?

I'll pop in just in case its literally omw home, I'll call CS at home too

EE guy yday said the SIM didn't need activating and would auto work but nothing, I have also received popups on my Mi5 saying 'SIM needs activating'

I have no clue whats going on xD but thank you for the continued help

No problem, my first job at Orange was doing this :) But it's hard without access to all the tech!

If the sim isn't active then nothings going work. Can you try the sim in another phone? If not get the guys in the shop to try it on one of their demo phones. If it's just that it's a simple fix (or you could call CS and get them to check if you have access to another EE phone?).

So if it doesn't work in the EE store then its the SIM clearly

But if it does work its the phone? I have to fight with Paypal for a return then :/

I really like this phone :'(

If the problem follows the sim, that the fault. Easy fix.

If the problem follows the phone... It could be a number of things. As I said above, it could be issue with the IMEI. When I worked there Sony released a new phone and messed up the IMEI, it created all kinds of problems.
I'm a big fan of Xiaomi too. Just working out which new one to get next Jan... :)

Right, I'll keep this posted once I've seen EE and phoned them this evening ^^

Hopefully its an easy fix and the replacement SIM is a mistake cos I love the phone otherwise

I would certainly go for the Mix or Note 2, depending on if you want a wacky amazing screen phone or a classy Samsung lookalike

Or the Mi5 Pro/S/4GB ceramic variants are well priced for the specs

OR the OP3T is out for £399, a bit pricier but not bad either

Personally Mi5 is the best value for flagship specs for sub 200, but then again look where that got me xD

Im gonna try the MMC MNC combos now, see if that has any luck

You flash it from a pc, plenty of guides. It could be a bug in your beta rom, I know this week's mi5 rom is suspended due to bugs.

Check the dual sim management in settings and make sure the correct slot has been ticked.

Ok so I'm installing a ROM update from MIUI as we speak, hopefully that works, says 'for various bug fixes'

I went to EE, got my SIM reactivated, I had signal for literally 2 mins and it dropped, hasnt connected back since

Wifi works fine as does all other processes

Phone is faulty? Lets see if the ROM update fixes it

Great news :) And never underestimate what some shop staff can mess up if you given the access to the tech!
