Turned on pc lenovo H50. Went to Firefox. Screen froze.
None of the icons work using mouse except to open the menu using right click but the buttons will not activate using left click. Keyboard works.

I have rebooted and starts fine but slower than normal.

I am unable to open anything at all to run diagnostics or advanced system care.

None of the icons work, even task manager will not open, just goes back to desktop.

Any help appreciated.

Can you run your virus killer and malware program in safe mode? I assume you have both?

goggles windows 10 media creation tool.
download and create a bootable window 10 usb.
now connect to faulty computer and boot to usb and reinstall it with fresh copy.
should sort it but will wipe everything

Unable to access the icons to do any of that.

Can you start task manager with: ctrl+shift+ESC? I had a similar issue, if it is not a virus/malware. I needed to run a power shell command which reloaded all the apps... can be found on many YouTube video.

hold shift and shut down
keep holding on startup then in recovery menu reset your pc

It's funny but when my laptop was recently updated to Windows 10 it did this also for a while....maybe about 2 weeks but sorted itself out after another auto software update.
I couldn't even shut mine down as all the desktop icons disappeared and only by right clicking the home button could I turn the laptop off.
Hopefully it should sort itself out

Let me try some of those and get back to you. Thanks

Use your phone or what ever your using to type in here and Google your laptop and how to boot in safe mode with that model, simple,
You never answered.... Are you running a virus killer and malware killer? If not it would explain a lot, more info on things like this will help people understand what went wrong, or is it simply straight after you updated to win 10?

system restore will not remove a virus only a reset will

Two things
1) next time try another mouse!!! Looks as if the right button does not work. Just used another mouse and that works fine.
2) "could not load xpcom" message came up when opening Firefox. Looks like that caused the problem.

Yes I do have malware and anti virus.

Just downloading Firefox and will report back if mouse is fine.

Really appreciate the help.

Or maybe a anti virus or malware remover? Saying he needs to reset his pc is a little extreme don't you think?

The mouse didn't stop working, the OS just decided to blatantly ignore your left clicking. A bit like when you cat decides to ignore you, it's doesn't lose its hearing, just decides it can't be bothered.
