Have a look at this Dell laptop posted by MikeT.

It's a long thread but might be worth reading through to clarify any queries you have about it.

It would seem like a good value laptop at around £327 if you upgrade to the Athlon 64 X2 TL53 processor. (and reduce to base warranty)

I'm very interested in the same laptop, but as a student I would obviously ant it as cheap as possible. If I ordered this and the called back next day to tell them I changed my mind (which was one of the suggestions someone else on this forum made), what is the likelyhood of me getting it reduced further?

Zak.

Yes the Vostro range look nice and sturdy, I would recommend them too, mind you between now and the start of uni lots can happen with pricing and specs.

I'm not sure if this helps but I saw on the motorway this morning an advert for laptops under £300 from E-Buyer. They have free delivery on anything over £49.

Try this link

They start from as cheap as £275 new.

PC WORLD are giving away brand new laptops if you sign up to Orange Broadband for £14.99 per month (must have BT line).
