Bit of a random tech question that has been bothering me for months, hoping someone can help.

In Firefox right clicking a link usually comes up with an option to open that link in a new tab, which is what I want to do. However when right clicking a button style link the option is missing. Holding CTRL/Command (the shortcut to open in a new tab) doesn't work either.

Somebody please tell me there's a way around this!!

I've attached a pic for reference

As seen above the "open link in new tab" option is missing from the right click menu.

Just open a new tab, paste the page you were on and then open the link on that tab so you still have the original yourself.

I'm sure there is a proper way but that's how I always do it!

Does clicking the middle mouse button not open a link in a new tab?

Use middle mouse button to open link in new tab. I want to say hold left control and and left click aswell but not at my computer to test.

Your rota website is the only website this happens on, right?

Pretty sure you can't open a button action (unless it's actually a link styled to look like a button) in a new tab. As Towelie says, just copy the url and paste it in a new tab, then click the button in that tab.

Hold the shift key on keyboard and click link as normal. Should open in new page. That's from memory. Sure that works in all browsers. Think that works with buttons to?

Install TAB MIX PLUS Firefox addon

Its excellent and allows so many more features

Eg. Middle mouse click - open link in a new tab

Hover mouse over a tab - switch to that tab

Etc etc

Tab Mix Plus enhances Firefox's tab browsing capabilities. It includes such features as duplicating tabs, controlling tab focus, tab clicking options, undo closed tabs and windows, plus much more. It also includes a full-featured session manager.

No, this happens on multiple websites but only on certain buttons.

No, this happens on multiple websites but only on certain buttons.

What I was getting at is if it's happening on buttons, they may be javascript buttons, not 'proper' links. If that's the case it will be the reason why you can't open them in new tabs.
