I only currently have one direct debit and with tsb .. I do pay a phone bill so if I make a new direct debit now for my phone bill il have 2 ? will I then meet the criteria for the incentive and reward scheme? m&s banking collect 100 pound when you open and get 10 pound a month there after if you have a grand pcm goin in n 2 direct debits coming out. I'm trying to get extra spends for the festive period n not much point doing it otherwise.

what account, as for tsb (well current plus) there are no DD's needed at all to get the (5% going down to 3% pcm on up to £2000 going down to £1500)

the only req are you must have paperless statements

--

either way if you need a DD the easiest to get is set up a paypal for that account, and send .01p a month to a friend, that counts as a DD, i use that and my internet bill monthly for the halifax reword, of 2 DD's pcm for the £5

I think the main issue here is time, if your motivation is extra income for the festive period. It will likely take a week for the new DD to be set up, then a week for the bank account transfer to happen, then up to a month for the reward to be sent to you (which is a M&S gift card not cash) - I'm assuming this is the M&S Premium account?

this is very true, (time)

so with that maybe the best idea if you want extra money for the xmas period would be to take out one of the many 0% year - 28 months credit card offers,

that way giving you extra money to spend and being able to pay it off over a year or more, (and maybe even some cashback in march or so via tcb or quidco)

ofc this would be advise based on if you can mange money and not get yourself in to debt over it, so if ts taken is up to you not me saying it

I'd be surprised if you got it for New Years tbh

Best case timeline imo

2 days for DD to be created = 09/12
7 working days for switch = 20/12
Then there's only three working days until xmas (closed from 24 - 27/12), banks pretty much shut down over the period so I wouldn't expect much to happen, and M&S state that it's up to one month after the account has been created

Looking at the Halifax, as an example, it states: "The offer (£100 cash) will be paid directly into your account by the time your switch has completed."

So if you need the funds for the festive period, this might be your best chance (or another bank offering cash)

thanks so if switch to Halifax al get the spends instantly. ?

Well, within seven days..

Yes, Halifax is your best option. It doesn't need direct debits for the 100 pounds switch incentive. And it pays within 3 days after the switch is completed.
You get £5/month (£3 from next month) for 2 direct debits that get paid after the switch is done
