Have you tried the classic blow the cartridge/console? :D

sounds like the games are the problem, they souldnt need a "new" edition of the 3ds to play them, contact nintendo
#3
Are they games from a different region to the console?

Sounds like 1 of 2 issues.

1) the games are now PAL region

2) the DS is the old style 3DS

I have tried the classic blow the cartridge & console which didn't help.
She's tried the games in my old 3ds as her new 3dsis packaged up and ready to be returned (as its still under warranty )to be fixed as it is failing to turn on only after 8 months of me buying it.

I bought both games from Amazon.

So the is old 3ds is too old to play the new games? Wow

thee games should work on any 3ds. there's a chance that the games are not pal versions which explains why they won't work on your 3ds

Check that amazon order. Third party sellers even via prime are known for selling games from other regions.

'Blowing on the cartrdidge' wouldn't be expected to apply here. It was something of a 'myth' in most cases even with older cartridges when this was a widely advocated suggestion, and 3DS/DS carts are somewhat different anyway,

But yes, incompatible regions would be my guess at the problem. The games' box should have several indications of the region; the following are a few of the more obvious checks:
- Is the age-rating organisation logo PEGI (European) or the ESRB (US)?
- Does the games' model number end with "UKV" (UK copy) or "USA" (US copy)? This should be on both the box and the cart in most cases.
- Is Nintendo's address shown as a US or European address?

was it actually from amazon or from 3rd party seller?

3rd party seller could be selling fakes.

3ds is not region lock

3ds is not region lock
The DS has no region restrictions, but unfortunately the 3DS does.

Found the answer!!!!! My old trust worthy Nintendo 3DS console is a us import!!!!! That's why the new 3ds games are not working. Because I bought the 3ds second hand with loads of games I didn't even notice. If it wasn't for these responses I would never of known. I googled it, checked the code in the settings menu and viola! I now have to wait for her console to be repaired. Wow I learnt a lot in that time about the complications of consoles lol.
Thank you all I really appreciated the help
