Help Please - Should I get AOL Broadband with Free Laptop?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me.

I am currently considering getting the above deal as I really want a knew laptop. My computer has gone on a go slow as it is a couple of years old now and wants extra memory etc. I thought I could put this is my little girl's room and have the laptop for my lazy self!

I am currently with the Post Office broadband since joining them in December (there is no tie in period) and since that date I have not had a single problem. It really is recommendable and i am worried that if I make the swap its all gonna go pear shaped.

What do I do, what do I do??? only I really want the laptop!

Would love to hear any info on AOL and whether or not they would be worth the swap.

Thanks.

Considering the fact that you will be tied into a long contract paying around £19.99 a month and the broadband rate is upto 8M. You could try O2 for £7.50 for the same 8M rate. If you work out how much it would cost you over say 2 years - AOL would work out around £480, O2 would cost £180. So you are essentially paying for the cost of the laptop over 2 years - good if you havent got the money upfront to buy a laptop.

if you need a new PC/Laptop there are some canny deals atm (iirc £19.99 per month, wireless), but for 18months, thats £360 for 18months BB and a Laptop!!

BUT at the same time, AOL CS are awful, especailly when you wanna cancel / have connection problems).. 6 times I rang last week, and its still not fully fixed (but works), so i asked for a MAC code and now they've chopped me off 3 full days before they said they would. AOL CS used to be freephone call, but its now 0844! :x

If it was me, I would spend £400 on a new laptop, if you have the money, and get SKY BB free if you can! 2mb (which is fine or us)

Aww thanks very much guys. YOu have now officially made me slap myself across the face and say stop being so greedy. Put up with the perfectly fine PC you have and save up for a laptop if you are desperate enough for one!

I was really relucant to leave my BB with the post office because they have been so "care free".

Aaargh, AOL is evil! You'l never get rid of it or them. Get yourself on TalkTalk where the broadband is free and the £240 a year you'll be saving will buy you a decent laptop, or if you go with TalkTalk through the CarphoneWarehouse you can pay monthly for the laptop at 0% APR http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/commerce/servlet/gben-server-PageServer?article=MAIN.UK.INTERNET.TRADEWIRELESS.IMAGES1.TALKTALK

Just buy a laptop, the 'free laptop' deals generally cost you £20-50 more than buying the broadband and laptop seperately.
