we bought a samsung home cinema system about 2 years ago but have had loads of problems with the dvd player. the back is colour coded for the speaker wires. my o/h thinks we need to buy a full new system, im hoping we only need to replace the dvd part. its an upscaling dvd, and we would prefer samsung so it all looks the same. can anyone reccomend me one that will have the colour coded bit on the back so our current speakers would fit? many thanks x

If your speakers connect via nomal speaker cables, ie red and black cables or similar and are not terminated they will work on any amplifier which takes cables. You could then buy a seperate DVD player and connect it to the amp and Bobs your uncle.

Ohhh, and I think that when you say colour coded they are terminated cables so an amp wouldn't work too good, unless you cut off the ends...

htx30r is the model, by colour coded i mean grey to grey, blue to blue, etc..... not the red and black - lol

lol, After the second read i thought so...

I think I have found a picture of the outputs on the back of this... looks proprietary to me... Might have to be a new system... Have you tried contacting Samsung to see about fixing the fault?

Is it like this?

could always change the adapters to fit the new system using existing wiring?

yeah, thats the one - dont want to shell out on a full new system, just need the dvd sorted. its been 'dodgy' since we got it, sometimes playing discs, then not, then not recognising them, then switching off - we have always got to run a cleaning disc, then it runs for a short while, then goes funny again, speakers are great tho, and dont want to change them
