I'm visting Edinboro (Zoo) on 21 Feb with the other half on the little one (aged 4)

HA-WAY-MAN, has kindly offered to try to help me with regards to Zoo Entry, but I need to book (asap if possible) a room with a double and single (or just one big one!)

Cant find De Vere Deals on here, so wondering if anyone could help. Accomodation needs be in region of the Zoo/Princess Street.

If anyone knows of busfare from Waverley Station to Zoo that would be great!

Also, somewhere to eat on the 22nd mid afternoon, before getting train back to Newcastle.

There was a thing on here the other day about cheap hotel deals in scotland:

Don't know if they do Edinburgh or your dates but maybe worth a look.

Bus fare is £1.10 for adults one way any distance in Edinburgh and under 5's go free. Mind you, you might be cheaper getting a day ticket £2.50 as that means you can hop on and off all day.

Bus numbers 26,31, 12 i think go to the zoo from the city centre and all the busses have good facilities for buggies (do 4 year olds have buggies?).

Food wise i'm not sure what you like but there are loads of pub food places on Rose Street which is the lane just behind Princes St. There is also a Weatherspoons there called The Standing Order which will be doing there cheap food and has a family room.

£3 day ticket from 18/1 instead of £2.50 ;-)

No way thats a shocker there always putting them up.

Money saving tip for anyone mind you is to buy your ticket out of the red machines at the bus stops they still only charge £1 for a single so my guess is when they go up they will still only charge £2.50 for a day ticket.

Try looking at Inn Keepers Lodge chain in Corstorphine (a short walk?/bus ride to Zoo 26/31) They do family rooms and have a carvery in the pub bit, can't remember the name of the pub though, sorry!

Argh, lost the post again, haven't a clue where it went ... so here goes 2nd time lucky ... Try the Inn Keepers lodge chain who have a pub in Corstorphine which is a short ride (walk maybe if you feel like it) to the Zoo. Has anyone told you how hilly the Zoo is? Don't forget to make sure you see the penguin parade, look out for the time.

Yea, we've been before just not with the little one. Wont bother him, when we get the safari truck up the bank :whistling:

IKL at Edinboro is £64 for a Family room, but DOES include Unlimited Brekky iirc

That sounds expensive for them, particularly in the suburbs, breakfast is good though, continental but lots to choose from, you can also get a bus outside the otherway to the Gyle Shopping Centre and there is one of the big supermarkets there with a cafe/restaurant

The De Vere deal would be no use to you anyway....it's 35 miles south of Edinburgh!!! We've just stayed at the Barony castle last weekend ( bloody brilliant! ) and it's about 6-7 miles outside of peebles...with nigh on zero transport unless you're driving!

Here's a possibility for you...directly opposite the Zoo too. £50, breakfast included ....and good reviews!

always an option but think im staying at N.Queensferry

EDIT: we ARE staying in N.Queensferry Hotel. Got a canny deal. Accomodation sorted, so now all we need is Discounted Entry for Zoo! Cheers

North Queensferry is in Fife, the other side of the Forth Bridge. No direct bus to Zoo from there, you would need to get 2 or 3 buses even to get there. Sorry but not the best choice for visiting Edinburgh if you do not have a car and even then traffic on the bridge can be horrendous at peak times. You are close to Deep Sea World, so look out for deals to visit there.

got a free pass for there.... we've looked at trains, and 20mins later, you at Waverley. NQF Hotel, Family room, got a bargain as a friend works there :whistling, so our train from home, hotel, sealife visit, and train to home is costing....
