Looking for a surround system to connect up to Xbox 360 using a VGA cable and computer monitor.

2.1 would be fine, just need to be able to plug in the red and white audio in cables from the VGA lead and away we go!!

Any help really appreciated,

If you happy with stereo then I would go for some PC speakers with a sub. Something like this for £17.99:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-LS21-Stereo-Speaker-System/dp/B0017915WA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227617829&sr=8-1

All you need to hook them us is one of these:

3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 x RCA/Phono - Left & Right Audio

Forgot to ask. What's your budget?

Have you got a home stereo with an AUX in?

Obviously below is a very cheap option to get better sound than TV Speakers.

They seem great, cheers. Does the 3.5 jack adaptor mean that you cant use headphones with the system if need be?

Cheapest surround for 360 comes in at £100 from argos. Acoustic Solutions. But its ****.

sorry just to add, dont want to pay any more than 25 quid really as only for kids bedroom and so does not need to shake the house either.

Your not going to get a surround for the 360 for less than £100.

You just need to get one of these if you want to use headphones also:

Female to Female 3.5 stereo jack:

Connect the headphone jack to this and then you can connect it to the 3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 x RCA/Phono - Left & Right Audio plug I advised you get earlier.

With this you can just plug in either the speakers of the headphones depending on which one you want to use.

***SCRAP WHAT I PUT EARLIER***

Here is what you need:

1. Logitech speakers I initially posted
2. 3.5mm Female to Stereo RCA Phone
http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=794251&Product=Speed-Link+Audio+Adapter+3.5mm+Female+to+Stereo+RCA+Phone+SL-8201

Plug the Stereo RCA Phone (Red and White) leads from the VGA cable into the above. The speakers will have a jack that will go into the other end. Now you have sound through the speakers.
The speakers have a headphone socket (Which I did not see earlier - see pic below).
By plugging the headphones into this it will cut the sound from the speakers so now you have sound through the headphones. Unplug the headphones for sound back through the speakers again.

Simple

Headphone addaptor on speakers:

P.S: If you decide to go for another set of PC speakers then make sure they are 'Active' speakers like these ones. This means they have a built in amp and run of mains power.
