Get him something he can do outdoors, something sporty. Bought my younger nephews footballs and bits of kit for Christmas.

My youngest nephews are really into Ben 10 so were given outfits (which they wore over Christmas.....everyday lol)

Lego... That will keep him busy for hours !! They do some really good Agent Mission Lego sets..... http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001151&productId=1500238081&langId=-1&engine=froogle&keyword=LEGO++Agents+Mission+3%3A+Gold+Hunt

If he is into Lego how about getting him Lego Batman or Lego Indiana Jones games for his DS.

My 6 year old nephew loved this .... http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Toys/Cars-and-Trains/Cars-and-Playsets/Hot-Wheels-Rumblers-Boom-n-Zoom-Launcher-Playset(0013826) - Kept him quiet all boxing day !

My 6 year old loved his remote controlled helicopter - there was a 737 remote plane posted recently may be worth a look. Very much into Ben 10 and Gormitti and Lego Bionicles Boots had some Big Bionicles 1/2 price last week - sorry havent checked to see if all gone!

hi thanks for the suggestions, i bought him lego for xmas & my mother inlaw & brother inlaw are buying him games for his DS so i think i will go & have a look for a remote controlled toy or the hot wheels things that have been mentioned above.

The trouble with remote control toys is that they tend to 'eat' batteries.

Hot wheels is a good idea as you will then have further options for future gifts to add to the set.
