Fed up of paying salon prices for hair colour! I was looking at the kits where you colour yor whole hair then put highlights in. Can anyone recomend good brands or give me tips for how to do it successfully?

Thanks!

I have just started using home kits after 10 years of having foils at the hairdressers.

although my hair does not have lovely subtle stripes, it no longer has roots and looks smarter for longer.

i use a permanent kit by loreal, which is just one colour.

put a thick layer of body lotion all over your face, neck ears and arms before so the dye does not get on your skin.and don't use best towels.

good luck

There are some kits in Wilkinsons that are pretty cheap and can give you highlights either with foils or a cap.

One thing to note is that you may need help for the back of your head but the instructions are pretty fool proof!

Been colouring my hair at home for years and it hasn't gone wrong yet..... touch wood lol.

the kits for highlights are ok but expensive i buy the lightener mix on its own and use it on top of any hair dye and i find the cheap dyes from home bargains and pound shop etc just as good as any branded ones

hi i use this:
http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?categoryParentId=4398&storeId=10052&productId=922256&callingViewName=&categoryId=4441&langId=-1&catalogId=11051
its a permenant colour which you then apply highlights to afterwards. had very good results with it, easily done in about an hour and the highlight application is easy, just stroke the wand through the hair.
don't overdo the highlights though.
hope this helps!
