I've got one of the James models pre-EU power rule changes (basically has a different cable management system) and it's fine for cleaning in the car, if anything it's very convenient for doing that but only by virtue of the type of vac it is, it's certainly no more powerful than any other similar dragged hoover I've used. For use around the house other than on stairs it's by far and away much less comfortable to use. Long fibre carpets being a very big cause of back strain when using it and it just doesn't work as well picking up stuff on that sort of surface.

For doing office type carpets, wooden floors, cars and the stairs, it's great. Otherwise I'd go with a traditional upright as the two other Vax models I've had do a much better job cleaning the house.

Try screwfix , for their titan wet& dry. Brilliant and cheap.
