I would like to get an account that I can use with paypal and other internet site to buy clothes etc. instead of having to give my mum/brother the money up front to use their cards.

Can anyone reccomend the best place to get one from and what the savings rates etc are. The main purpose is for paypal etc.

Cheers in advance
Ross

are u going to uni? I got the natwest student current account, been good for 4 years with free railcard. My OH is with LLoyds, they charge him constantly if a payment comes out a matter of mins before the cash goes in etc etc. Is a real horrid company in our experience.

First Direct ??

I have been with them since they first started (years ago) and they are always polite, helpfull and I have never had an issue with online banking, phone banking or anything else.

I even rang them xmas day at 1am and someone was there to answer my call as my cash card had been eaten by a cashpoint and I had a replacement a few days later.

I'm with HSBC - no problems with them. But most of the banks are pretty similar. Avoid Lloyds tho-like someone else said, they do jump straight in to take charges etc out of your account. They were charging my friend £15 a day because he was £22 over his overdraft.

When you become a student though, i would move over to Halifax (they offer the biggest student overdraft), or Natwest (with the student rail card). I didn't think i'd ever need a rail card but i did, and ended up having to buy one every year. They do save u loads on fares.

Might be worth looking into graduate loans etc to see what the banks are like after you've finished university
