not sure about a cottage we have beent there a few times were only in Blackpool, have always stayed in like family run guest houses which always seem nice. I do however sometimes see cottage style holidays advertised in Windermere in our local paper.
Seems alot of little B&Bs for want of a better word, some bigger hotels with pools etc. Nice to stay there but quite exspensive. Saying that if your from down South or soemthign prices probably won't seem too much.
Have you got any tesco vochers you can spend them in a few places round there, theres quite a few nice days out and things to do round there, and tourist infomation always seem quite helpfulx

Not sure if you have read these yet - but they are kind of useful to read when you get a minute... Apologies if you have - it was just a thought.... Good point above about the Tesco vouchers!

Thanx supersilly,

we're based in Manchester, so not really that far off. If you remember any of the names of places you stayed in then plz let me know. We're not fussed, we just need self catering and a child friendly place. We saw a few places on the net but there's always a message "not suitable for kids" (i fink the houses maybe situated on a cliff?):whistling:

i went about month ago for the first time, to Keswick and it was great, i dont know the details of the cottage as it was sorted out by my GF parents but there was 6 adults and 3 kids
2 x 60+
2x 40+
2x 30+
3x 13-18
And we took bikes

shopping around there we found going to Aldi's best as the shops round there were very expensive for feeding 9 people, hope that helps.

Somewhere we've stayed

Not cheap but can take the amount of people you need in one property !

They also allow pets in some properties. Absolutely gorgeous with log fires (watch the kids), play park right on site, locked up indoor pool (need a passcode to access ).

Deff worth a look...

We stopped in a cottage over the bank holiday in Windermere. My parents booked it through www.cumbrian-cottages.co.uk

They always use these guys they go up there regularly from Preston. They have a few offices too to give a better peace of mind, I know there's one in Windermere itself as we picked the keys up there.

For our stay we stopped in a really nice property called 'The Old Stables'. There were 5 Adults but it could take 6 (2 doubles and 1 twin room). Although this was a great place, very modern and extremely immaculate I would possibly avoid it if your older members are not so mobile as they would need to climb a flight of stairs. (Ground floor was 1 twin room with en-suite, toilet, kitchen and utility room. Middle floor was lounge, double bedroom with ensuite, and a bathroom. Finally there was a lovely attic room as a double bedroom.)

It was about a 5 min walk into Windermere.

This is the exact place we stayed: http://www.cumbrian-cottages.co.uk/property-details.aspx?productid=47838

Hope it helps!! (PS not affiliated to the cottage or the cumbrian cottage people in any way)
