We have a 3 Handsets kit and only the base needs to be plugged in but if it gets unplugged from the mains for any reason the whole lot do not work, the only negative we found but we have an older BT Phone in the hallway as a back up and you can hear the bell all over the house....

I can recommend anything with a nuisance call blocker and a function that updates all handsets with any name/number you store in the memory of one. I know you don't want BT but just bought a triple set with these functions. Going to be very useful.

We've had a Siemens Gigaset for a few years, which had good reviews when we bought it and has been great.
it isn't as quick as my smartphone :-)
i don't know if Siemens sold it, but they are just called Gigaset now.

Thanks newb - have been looking all day at Siemens Gigaset - I don't mind paying the price - I just want a great phone system that works and is not cheap plastic rubbish! Good to hear your recommendations! Regards
