it was one of the effected models 2015 that are at risk of fire ..had the engineer caused this it was fine until hes messed with it

maybe the surge of electricity hasn't blown the fuse, because it's the wrong fuse? same happened to my shower, burnt wires and all but my fuse was wrong, to high or something so wouldn't cut out when it surged, or something like that. I'm no electrician as you can tell lol.

Get all your documentation sorted and call trading standards in the morning.

It looks like the brown wire was a bad / loose connection, which caused the electricity to arc across, creating a lot of heat which has melted the insulation and the yellow block, I had very similar to this on a built in oven. The fuse won't blow because the drier is not drawing too much current, its just creating heat where it shouldn't. You need to get the repair guy back, he should never have left it like this.

Good job you were in the house and able to switch it off quickly. If you weren't so quick to react, who knows what could have happened? Good luck getting it sorted and glad you're all ok

Im so glad you are all safe. I would be going mental too. They have had many chances to sort this out, its been going on for a long time. People are having to wait for repairs. they are treating people differently; some getting new machines, some not etc. I would go for the jugular now. Demand money back so you can buy a different brand and go to the papers, Watchdog, Trading Standards. That 'repair' could have ended very differently.

Take plenty of pics before engineer comes back and 'fixes' it. Get proof. If you'd had just popped out for an hour it could have been such a different story, thankfully you caught it. Hope they give you a total new one :)

I had mega problems with "knowhow" who came out to fix my dryer. the first person came out to fix it, Acutally broke it and it wouldn't switch on after, the second person said vthe last guy broke the fab panel so he stood on it to straighten it, then it still made squeezing noises. so after spending a fortune on phone calls calling different ppl I contacted whirlpool and argued my case.they said, they would have to send one of there repairers out to fix it, but didn't have an appointment for over 2 weeks, so I argued how inconvenient it was and I got a new dryer free of charge, so if I was u I would contact whirlpool them selves to sort it out.

do you really want it repaired again after this ? will you be confident with its safety after this ? i would suggest changing it for a different brand not part of that group. I did and it wasn't easy but have an aeg now with full refund for original machine.

just a quick update..

they sent a fire investigatior round today who has said the cause was the part being incorrectly fitted.

they will replace it ..

what can i do now as ive wasted time of work .endless calls and no dryer not happy

who did you buy it from ? I was passed to the manufacturer by the seller. when the manufacturer failed to act in 13 months I went back to the seller and insisted on a refund to go towards a new machine from a different manufacturer. they refused and I threatened legal action. they still refused so I wrote to a director saying it was their choice either refund or I would go to court. next day they offered a full refund.

the point is that your claim isn't with the manufacturer. it is with the seller and they sold you something that's not fit for purpose.
