hi
i have a £250 allowance to use as a work gift for overnight stay at a hotel
the wife and I would love to go to central london
as we have kids i need to stay quite central to the heart of where everything is happening, which i think is leicester square / picadilly circus. i can find hotels for 1 night for within our £250 budget but would prefer to stay 2 nights. anyone know anywhere close to leicester square for 2 nights for 250? i can get further a field like tottenham court road but thats no good with 2 toddlers/baggage etc etc
many thanks in advance

Is this weekday or weekend? You'll struggle to find anything decent for that in the week but at the weekend it'll be easier.

Tottenham Court Road is only 5-10 mins away. And nearer Oxford Street and Marylebone Street.

There arn't many hotels in "Leicester Square" itself so think Covent Garden would be a lot better.
Although uou may need to think about what you want to do as there isnt much to keep a famiuly amused without leaving Leicester for two days.

What days?

I have used travelstay in the past when it was just myself. (I suggest you dont as they are usually cheap and nasty places)

BUT my reason for posting is I just got back from a weekend in london by train and I used the 2-for-1 vouchers at the railway station for a riverboat tour which I recommend. Very witty commentry and a nice ride.
We stayed in the Marleybone travelodge which wasn't that nice either. But I do recommend the ones at Kings Cross (St Pancras). I've stayed at the Royal Scot one and enjoyed the stay a lot.

The Hoxton is nice but a bit far out of town for you (they have the £1 and £29 offers now and again)

I'm a big fan of City Inn Westminster - very affordable at the weekends (and cracking breakfast. I think they had the masterchef chefs working there one morning and they normally only use excellent restaurants). It is very expensive in the week though. Nice quiet location near the West End, London Eye and HoP. Not that close to the underground, mind.

Whatever you do check tripadvisor for the lowdown on your hotel. You don't want to pay £250 and end up in some poo hole that says it's 4 stars but that you wouldn't let your dog sleep in.

(Am I allowed to say poo hole?)

I booked into the radisson grafton on Tottenham court road (as have stayed there) and on arrival they had run out of space. Hotel did no more than taxied me to the radisson edwardian on Leicester Square for no extra charge.

Both seemed very nice hotels.

Hi - thanks for the info people
In reply - Sorry I should have mentioned, I intend to go anytime in the last two weeks of may
i was thinking two nights stay during the weekend as Virgin have £9 deals from Manchester to London return, but then the hotels are more expensive
id be happy to go at the weekend if i could get a reasonable price on tickets for the weekend (travelling from halifax, west yorkshire)
hope that helps and thanks for the info everyone - much appreciated
