Hotel in Newcatle - 9th January 09

Hi,

I've been doing a search today for hotels on Friday the 9th January.

4 of us are coming up from London for the football and would just like a place to get our heads down for all of a couple of hours (after we've been out on the town).

Can anyone recommend any cheap hotels in the city centre?

I'm looking at the travel lodge, But they only have double rooms and famaily rooms left. What do people think the chances of getting 4 in a family room are?

what price do you want to pay?

which match you coming for?

TL in Newcastle Centre (along the Quayside, which is one of the main drinking areas) comes to £32per night for the room. Whether you get 2 or 4 adults in the room is upto you and "do-able" if you can all get in past reception at 2am!

Saturday Night rooms are £65per night. Not sure if your stopping Fri and Sat Night, but if so, book both nights a single nights, and not a 2 night stay

Premier Inn on the quayside have twin rooms for that date. A twin room is £69...so £35 each

Jurys Inn have rooms for £66 on that date .

COming up for Newcastle West Ham.

Just looking for something cheap. I doubt we would spend many hours in the hotel, and only need a bed.

I think going for Travel Lodge is the best bet, just not sure whether to risk four in a room....it is christmas so every penny counts :)

Also cheers Disco i guess its a case of take the risk if we want, dont come in all together and hope someone else is on reception.

The Holiday Inn Express Newcastle CC just up from central station and down from St James Park is £55 for that night including breakfast or the one at the Metro Centre is £51.99 inc breakfast which might be better if ur bringing a car with you as it has free parking

If your not bothered about staying in the centre of town look at B & Bs in Whitley Bay £15 to town in a Taxi or about £2 on the Metro (like the tube but less buskers). You could also look at Jesmond

it's not right in the city centre but there is a pub in Heaton (about 5mins in a taxi from town) called the corner house they have rooms that sleep 4, be about £90 http://www.laterooms.com/en/hotel-reservations/125300_corner-house-newcastle-upon-tyne.aspx (obviously only if they let you stay in family room as laterooms says)
I also second looking into B&B's in Jesmond (very close to centre of town), Tynemouth, Whitley Bay. Use tripadvisor.com for reviews though because like anywhere there are some awful b&bs.

Not sure if any use to you but from 30 December, Travelodge are doing £9 rooms to book. You will need to check if there is one available where you are wanting to stay. Just check out their website for info.

Couldn't agree more. Spending the night along the quayside usually caps off a great weekend - win, lose or draw at St James'
