Hi,

I'm going with friend to Paris in Nov for a night and was trying to find a decent place to stay for the night.

I have not established a budget, but would like a decent room and a budget price. I'm landing into Charles D'gauld (sp) and just want to check in and be in an area where we can explore the city - does anyone know of a tour site or perhaps a site or even pointer on what to see beside the Eiffel Tower.

The room is mainly a place to crash for the night before we depart.

Also, how much does a cab cost to get to the hotel (on average) and is there a cheaper mode of transportation to get into the area of the hotel.

I looked on Expedia, Hotels.com, and some other sites and am at a loss on waht is good.

Cheers!

When I last took a cab from CDG to the centre of Paris (in rush hour) it was Euro60. There are much cheaper train and bus options but I don't know about these as I only go on business so my company pays.
You won't get any budget hotel near the Eiffel Tower - I once stayed in the Hilton which had a fantastic (almost touch it) view of the tower from the 8th floor but was horrendously expensive (again work paid).
When it was my own money we stayed in Versaille and took the train (3 day travel card) into the centre (40mins).
Things to see: Louvre gallery (but huge queues generally), Musee d'Orsay is just as good for your picture fix, Champs Elysees and Arc d'Triomphe, Notre Dame, Versaille (out to the west), Disneyland? It is impossible to say what is best to see as there is so much. Concentrate what interests you - art, churches, shopping, restaurants etc

I went to Paris in July for a weekend, found a deal on lastminute.com for £92 per person for 4 days including Eurostar from London to Paris and back, 2* hotel right in the centre of Paris + breakfest. I stayed in Hotel Monte Carlo - 2* in Paris, 44 rue du Faubourg Montmartre, 75009, Paris.

There are some great deals on lastminute.com, but try to search for different options - sometimes same hotel in City Breaks (Hotel only) can for example half-price the same hotel in hotel deals.

Hope this helps

You could also try to find something via Priceline. I have had plenty of luck with it in London but don't know about the availability of Paris rooms with it.
