It's been a few years but we always used to stay at the Freight Terminal Premier Inn, it's actually right next to the Manchester Airport Premier Inn (they share the same car park) but was at the time cheaper and a much newer/nicer looking building.

Don't use the Britannia whatever you do. Even for 1 night!

Depends how close you want to be. There's a Holiday Inn in Runcorn 5 minutes from the M56 junction (12) which is then about a 20-25 minute drive to the airport. It's straight down the M56 though, a straight forward easy drive. May be cheaper than staying in a hotel on site. I'm not sure. Just an idea :D

I second the Premier Inn... Have stayed at the Runger Lane North accommodation which is great value for money. It's more or less on the grounds of the airport, so less that 3 mins to get to the terminal parking/area.

the close ones seems expensive all seem over 130 pounds per room. can't u travel on the same day instead wouldn't that be cheaper or u really want stay in a hotel

I would recommend any premier inn, the one at heald green is very close to the airport & has great links into manchester or you can get a bus or train directly into manchester and stay at any of the many premier inns.

Ahhh, no car with you then. Kinda makes a trip down the M56 a little tricker! It looks as though other HDUKers have some more suitable suggestions for you. Hope you find something :)

You're looking at £160 for an airport Premier inn, why not stay further out and taxi into the airport. York train to Piccadilly then tram to Prestwich.Prestwich Premier is £90 for Thursday 25th May( not sure if your dates) and a taxi ride in.

We have to be at the airport for 6am, 2 hour train journey before that with 4 young kids so trying to make as easy/stress free as possible! oO

what date you need hotel? Radisson is nice and I may have a discount and it's in the terminal tunnels

Please do bear in mind op, I did exactly the same thing, at Manchester. Thought ' oh a family room is fine for us, it's only the one night' kids were so excited I literally didnt get a winks sleep. Don't know the ages of your children, but you said they're young. I wish I'd got 2 rooms, one adult one child in each. At least if have got some sleep.

Holiday Inn Express, next door to the Prem Inn. Rooms are clean, includes breakfast and Wifi.
MAN can be a bit pricey for hotels as, unlike LGW, there are few choices.
The onsite ones are Hilton, Crowne Plaza and Radisson Blu, the Clayton (cheapest usually) and the Etrop Grange. Marriott is a mile away and has a bus service.
It is possible to get these at about £50/ night sometimes if during an off peak time.
I've stayed at all of the above and they are all pretty average. If I were travelling with children, I'd choose the Marriott as it has quite large family rooms and a nice pool/spa. Food/Drink prices are reasonable.
