Can I do this over wifi somehow or do I need to add some hardware to my laptop?

Thanks in advance

You can cast the whole screen to a Chromecast, not just the chrome browser.

New method also which personally I find great although must be Windows 10 OS.
Press the "speech bubble" looking icon on the bottom right of your desktop normally just beside date/time. The press the "Connect" option. Windows will then look for any wireless screens which you can connect to which most DNLA TV's should appear. If a device appears simply press on the device and away you go.

Thanks for the recommendation, I didn't know that option was there. However, when I click on CONNECT, it says 'Your PC doesn't support Miracast, so cannot project wirelessly' - any idea what I need to add for it to support 'Miracast''?

Press the "speech bubble" looking icon on the bottom right of your desktop normally just beside date/time. The press the "Connect" option. Windows will then look for any wireless screens which you can connect to which most DNLA TV's should appear. If a device appears simply press on the device and away you go. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_eS1elof9rXPHgnuLLM3bQeY2ndQS-eLzvKwNc1cEz9onUjB6w7MtW02WbRvpIc3x9nNW-BYfqN2p23mF80968i0iUEmCndSQ4FCK8fKe5o-KfSR8Bsu0p1y5Fg9YgFi6DskgOnkoJ6PjatA9eb_B909bbLxPmcszYXReixXY9XhzNnUWezNjTreNykcMFEekizzSILtKTFlBJvKAtdTxOMjzOdst57kYsZ-bZPjn-oqXUqQOUxYrrXdh_M9FkpSs2-UBgU4I5OB018izrgNc9jxuuZYDCfx7YkWsNOglyldiCD9Aa2uoug-maN3SVfQ0PC11ttEpJJDv7F2Bch4z64LRggYL_4g7zkQlYI6pP3BKxPFJLpn-uBnNLQSroGgUTql9uYCP0coGuxKOqiUJkWDiEgRTNUlKNhZyUUbnwlnSVkSv0Wm861-mbxO3rH2xrI7lpN_c6J5Kf-dQ-PvWKLZI1eI0-MUizVeRLakCkhjLzvsl7mvJKs1WSLf5sIL057m5SrpUMc5gk6xwbypFj4f6_MrcDu2dQhtts9BDKNvNMHXX4CKaVscSc1bpQdLZeF7BkBUEA_zKLA4WOBat3lM2hdlrXOCy9LI9eFDeej2yGXz=w957-h131-nohttps://lh3.googleusercontent.com/GBvCEgbdBPlCTsjUXoSh7yhMPHYWwsd8pKEi8n7E29USeu6oyvupNWkCkQH1wsTrq2WczOsfTa88IideoysLcva-qoAdDDPY7SNFJfGeBFZnpkvtLT26rvAjdWLrI6vsSgOTDp-k9nzEr6k3ZgJEoemYUcAssiX2qqXLGPSwNwhbPhqd11AXvVqWGoAyHVrRup5fsT5DkjU-xUAz7yCOXM7_HiXu8rhAp8a1JgKaxsMe0rdlzGaxo7EfQZHI7sSykL7-rqmZ_nC303FpBKeQz60VHJPPOgCbnyYxejySl0S77YJs2Jr5v_R6AlbxO8T748zd6KKogTBWCooChm40z_4A9YCn5A6CbzexjJfNTFUrY9vqAIYJdPLJR8uLPpsxpdFSKpSqJouPJLWDC5xNGVks_j3u-oHFyqpvoQ7aTZCN8jpL4kogbA78HtDm9dFwIlVVFKo9_KhZicQkwAA0RkLn0keLWKns33Ncg2fchb21So7s9rC6XmovcYW6xh5pM7w4jcpLO9QfCREXszcb-O556hypvb7uk5c9xmOwfa13OIeKEvE1ewS4q97lHcEg-MLguBgTCdJ6yb_o1hnVoz5YK8HvfUQboC-98H4Ak75__gpl=w958-h536-no
Thanks for the recommendation, I didn't know that option was there. However, when I click on CONNECT, it says 'Your PC doesn't support Miracast, so cannot project wirelessly' - any idea what I need to add for it to support 'Miracast''?
Check the below. http://www.ithinkdiff.com/check-if-your-windows-pc-supports-miracast/
Just did this and it says - Miracast: Not Available
Like I said, check to see if your Laptop supports WIDI. If it does then you can install the drivers and version 3.5 makes WIDI miracast compatible.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkBN97AthEA

How do I check if it supports WIDI? I can't find how to anywhere..

bottom of the laptop should have a serial and model number. enter model number and widi into google.
