How do you manage your cables/wires?

Looking for some tips on cable management.. Have a few things wired up to my tv now plus tp links and Ethernet cables and the wires are starting to drive me a little crazy.

Want to purchase one of these

.. But the way the wires are setup on the pictures isn't possible for me. Next best thing? What are you guys using to keep your wires hidden or tidy?

I just chop the lot off as close to the appliance as possible.

Part of my job has been Audio Visual design/support/installation for the past few years and i've become very OCD about things looking tidy.

I too have the vonhaus floating shelves and they look awesome.

I also use these things

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisual-Chunky-Reuseable-Hook-Cable-black/dp/B001RPWPQE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419438214&sr=8-1&keywords=velcro+cable+ties

so you can bunch all the cables together for an even tidier effect :)

hope this helps

We run all our cables through the wall into a small cupboard behind the TV and it is all monitored from there, all PSU's and networking hidden and Aerials and Speaker wires under the floor. (Crawl Space)

I throw them all down the back of the cabinet, in a big tangled birds nest. It's worked for me for years.

Totally this. Life's too short to worry about cables.

Buy a piece of plasterboard/plywood and cut it to size... probably plywood would be best and paint it the same colour as the walls and slot it in front of the wires, then you won't be able to see the mess any more.

Strips of Velcro, you can pull them apart if required.

Not a bad idea, I use my whiteboard that I use for working out my physics stuff to cover up the wires.

Thats not all of it (old photo), I added a SNES and N64, and you haven't seen under the desk yet where I've got my gaming rig.

Most important thing is always measure and make sure you get cables that are just the right size. This is the key to keeping cables tidy.
Apart from that use of cable ties.
