Just paid off my iPhone 7 with O2 and I'm currently paying £28 for my tariff which includes
20GB Data
Unlimited calls+text
Data roaming in EU is free also

I got an email earlier this morning and notice they're doing the exact same deal for £21 a month with a £25 Amazon Gift Card

I would like to keep my number and I'm happy with O2 but I would also like a cheaper and better deal until I come to upgrade in September.

Would retentions make my tarring cheaper if I ask them nicely?

Or is there any 1 month rolling contracts that offer what I have or better for cheaper?
Never done this before so any advice appreciated

Thanks

First call retentions, then post back what they are offering.
It's hit and miss and nothing to do with how nicely you ask but down to their current marketing drive/targets/type of customer you are etc.
Just make sure you actually speak to retentions and not normal customer service "I want to cancel", not "I'm thinking about cancelling" ;)

No problem! Will do that now. I'm a fairly decent customer. In the past 4 years I've been with them I've taken out

2x iPhone 5c
2x iPhone 6
1x iPhone 6s
2x iPhone 7
2x iPhone 7 plus (recently got)

2x iPad Air
2x iPad Air 2
1x iPad Pro 9.7" (currently running)
1x iPad Pro 12.9" (currently running)

i found o2 retention not to be very good, unlike EE. i think it also depends on your useage history as to whether they are making money from you before they offer you good deals or not.

certainly worth asking. no harm.

Called 402 instead of 202 as you get to speak to someone in the UK from 402

And quite surprisingly, had a pleasant person to speak to

Managed to get a good deal out of them. Instead of getting a PAC number and faffing around. I managed to get 25GB Data with my unlimited calls and texts for £21 a month. I could of stuck with the 20GB for £16 a month but I'm nearly out of Data already and it resets on 20th (I don't use wifi at home at it's terrible)

I was thinking the same. I've seen far better deals for new customers than existing customers these days. I also failed to mention above he also gave me a £20 discount on my phone as a goodwill gesture to try entice me to stay with O2. Not bad for me if I'm honest. I'm happy with the network

He also mentioned after 16th June, all O2 customers get free EU roaming inclusive with whir tariff

it's from June 15th, and all networks have to do this, they are being made to. so it's not them doing it by choice, as they no longer have a choice :{

With him telling me the date (thought he said 16th) I assumed it was forced to all networks
