Okay, I got my tongue pierced 2 weeks ago (8/25/16) and the piercer originally put in a long barbell to accommodate the swelling that was going to occur. Well I changed it out for a shorter barbell yesterday with no problems. I need to know if it is possible to take the piercing out, brush my teeth (Tongue included) then put the barbell back in without any sort of closure. Now I know it wouldn't be a permanent closure (If any) but I just want to make sure I wont have any problems.

I imagine you'd be ok to brush your teeth, but even when the piercing is healed if you leave it out for a day it would close up or be difficult to put the bar back in. Can you not just brush your teeth with it in?

I've had mine in for 18 years and have never had to take it out to brush my teeth and tongue.

Unless you're wolverine, I dont think it's gonna close up in the time it takes you to brush your tongue.

You shouldn't be removing it twice a day to brush your teeth, you'll end up making it very easy for infection to stroll in. Just brush as normal and use a decent mouthwash like listerine.

I can, and do, brush it with it in. But for some reason I have some urge to brush without it just once to clean it completely. Idk, its strange to explain.
