So I ordered a while ago, finally had an email which said they have my order and I will need ID upon delivery of the phone, this seems odd since I have never had to provide ID for anything before on delivery.

I can't help but think they could have a better service, then searching Google somebody else mentions they had somebody change their delivery address to a newsagent or similar which is concerning, if they hadn't of noticed they would be out of pocket with no goods and little help from EE it seems.

I think I'm looking for reassurance and sure the confirmation was on 5th December but I'm feeling uneasy about buying from them now since they don't have email support either, they have an 0845 number and 150 from an EE phone but of course I don't have an EE phone yet!

Then on the 7th I receive an email starting with this message:

"Hi £10 refund raised on to your account as your £10 top up hasn't been applied to basket. Please contact us when you receive your equipment to top up. Welcome to EE and thank you for choosing us. We have got your order and we will be sending out your new 4GEE Wifi device and SIM really soon."

What exactly does that mean?

I don't plan on using EE and will unlock anyway as I use another network.

I have no issues with them, and my phones are due for delivery on the 15th(my choice to have them delayed till then)
google is your friend too, if you want to find their number ;)

*my phones were in stock, so they were able to deliver them on Tuesday (ordered Sunday), so for me that's pretty good service IMO.
Was your phone in stock?

I have EE and they are useless but they are 1000% better than Vodafone... I have never had soo many problems with a company in my lifetime. So just take comfort it's not Vodafone... unless that's the network you use, if that's the case every other network is like a provider from the Gods!

piece of string question. no good asking us, ask them or track the parcel. dont think ID is to hard to find if you live there courier giving over an expensive phone to a stranger...its a safe guard

All that is mentioned is a 1 hour time slot and they should text/email a day before too to let me know it'll be the day after.

The phone was in stock at the time of ordering but I didn't see any option but their free delivery option whilst checking out.

I'm at least expecting some kind of delivery alert by Wednesday, I just think their service is lacking in various basics when ordering, a tracking number would be perfect but instead you have to wait for an unknown time when they decide its ready to be delivered.

Maybe I'm just finding faults or picky but every other company is more efficient.

I will use the phone on virgin mobile, hopefully.

I have ID which is not a worry but I've never needed it for anything else aside from this one order from EE.

The ID is a fraud prevention measure. The courier will not give you the phone until he's seen valid ID.
I've know people who it's happened to. One friend went on holiday came back to find house had been broken into and then few weeks later a massive mobile phone bill in there name. Turns out someone knew she was away ordered a phone online and then opened the door pretending to be her. Had Id of been asked for then the phone wouldn't of been handed over. That's just one example other people domestic help or anyone who has access to the property could order without you knowing. So many scenarios. Hope that clears things up on the ID front

Contact them tomorrow(click the link i provided for the FREEphone number to them) to ask them rather than ask us on here, a question that only EE can answer ;)
have a list of questions ready for when they answer = simples

I understand the ID thing, but it's a pay as you go phone, so no contract, I understand why the ID but find it unnecessary for this transaction.

Thank you for the help everyone, I'll see if I can make a call tomorrow/later, I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing but its a substantial amount of money.

To update in case anyone else is worried about their order.

I called the free phone number and selected the I am an EE customer option, I was then transfered to the correct rep who said the delayed delivery is most likely due to an extra not being in stock but stock is usually built up again every 7 days and to call back on Wednesday should the delivery alert still not come through.

1 to 28 days.

Yes, they want to see you are the person who ordered the phone. I ordered one phone from them last year and was asked for ID.

I got the text alert today after ordering on the 7th, all being well it should arrive tomorrow via DPD.

Thanks all for the information and help.

One last question for those who know about unlocking, when the phone arrives from EE, do I need to do anything with it before unlocking it?

Such as, do I need to activate it with EE first or am I good to go from the box to unlock it?

As a side question to unlocking, has anyone used unlucky or sim-unlock for free or should I go with a paid service like unlock unit?

Feedback appreciated greatly.
