Evening all,

I transferred some money from my Santander current account to a persons Barclays account at 9:30am this morning. It's the first time I've transferred money to this person and its still not showing up in their account.

Anyone know how long it usually takes?

Thanks

With Santander even with Faster Payments they take upto 16 hours to credit the other account if it is the first transfer.

Ok, so hopefully should appear by tomorrow morning then. If not, what would you say my best course of action would be?

I had to transfer some money to a friend. I uploaded money from my Santander account to my PayPal account, which cost nothing and took 2 mins to complete. I then paid him from my PayPal account to his for free and took again. About 2 minutes. He then transferred the money from his PayPal account to his bank account. This was all free and he had his money in about ten minutes!

I've known it to be instant and take a few hours - Santander are unpredictable when making xfers

I have spoken to Customer Services and they have always advised that the first transfers are subject to security checks which causes the delay. Subsequent transfers should be instant.

Varunadas is correct, first transfers go through additional checks which can mean a 16hr delay. Any future payments to the same person should pay instantly subject to you having the funds and there being no faster payment scheme outages.

hi all I payed cash into someones account on friday at about 4.00pm on a bank holiday weekend how long does that money take to appear on that account?

If you walk into a branch to transfer money into another bank it can take 1 hour to 72 hours, during this time your money is in limbo.. The cyberspace that is between banks. If you want a quick easy transaction get your money out of your account take it to the bank you require then put it directly in there account. Done and done. Worry free banking.

hi all, I've been told by a casting company that according to their records their payment (that's been made on Wednesday) should arrive in my account by Friday (which is today, as I'm writing this). Is it really going to arrive on that day?

If it is the first transfer then it will be subject to security checks and mostly will be released the next working day.
